Boo Boo Edwin

Bandaid EdwinOkay, so that's NOT the real name of that Magnolia stamp.... it's actually "Bandaid Edwin" ;)

This is another card for my hospital "Healing" art project. This time I made a Joy Fold Card (I have no idea why it is called that, but it was my first one). I wanted to create a scene that put this typical scraped-knee boy in a situation that perhaps explains his latest scars... biking in the woods.

I hand-drew the log and then struggled on how to do his bike. But then I remembered that Edwin already HAD a bike (in another stamp)! So I used that one as a model for the bike I drew leaning on the fallen log.

Edwin, the log and the bike are all coloured with Copics, natch. They are also popped up on foam dimensionals.

The paper used was K&Company Tim Coffey Fall Rust Stripe. Both the patterned paper and Bazzil cardstock were inked with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink and then while still wet, my Making Memories distressing tool was run down the edges (I had forgotten how good that thing works!) I used my sewing machine to do some stitching on three of the panels.

The brad closure was a tad small, so I found a washer to go behind it. Since they were both a pewter colour, I used Copics to colour them to match the other coppery metals on the card.

A sheer beige ribbon finished off the front of the card. I think. I may add something more to it after I ponder it a few days... it wouldn't be the first time I did this.

Joy Fold Card opened
But here is where I need YOUR help!

I don't know what sentiment I should put inside. All I can think of is "Take care of your Boo Boo". I know. Lame.

I am certain you clever people can come up with something much better!

So please, add your suggestion in the comments! I would be forever grateful!!!!

Not only that, but if I choose yours to use in the card, I shall send you a surprise by mail...

And just to be fair, I shall also choose another commenter randomly to receive a special surprise by mail too.

So put on those thinking caps - because mine, obviously, is defective.

Here are the Copic colours used:

Skin: E000, E00
Clothes and shoes: E50, E51, E53, E55, E57, E59, W1, W3, W5
Log: E29, E30, E31, E33, E35, E37, E39, E49
Bike: N0, N3, N6
Brad closure: E18, E47, W7

EDITED MONDAY, MAY 17TH 6:30 PM:

Thank you to everyone who came up with great suggestions for Edwin's sentiment! It was hard to choose, but here is what I thought would fit best with the "Healing" theme for this art exhibition:

Thank you Dawn from Creativity With Dawn and thank you for a perfect saying! As you can see, I even found a free "Bandaid" font to print it out in!

The winner of the random gift is:
Cabio of Cabio's Craft Corner! Thank you for your wonderful comments.

Congrats to both of you! Please email me your mailing addresses so I can send you each something I hope you will like. And thank you to everyone for your very kind comments.

This card is amazing! Your coloring it fabulous, and I'm totally blown away by the fact that you drew the log and bike, wow. This is wonderful in every way. Not good with sentiments, though, can't think of anything original.

Great Card. I am amazed that you drew your own accessories. That is just great!! For the comments How about:

"Band-aids make everything better!!"

or "A kiss and a band-aid makes everything better!!"

This stamp reminds me of when my son was little and the little things we used to tell him when he fell and had a boo-boo. Band aids where miracle workers in our house.

Hi Maureen, I really like the card. Your drawing of the log and bike is great. Very talented. Since this is for the Hospital board--how about "Future Doctor in the Making" or "Practicing to be a Doctor"

Maureen, I love this card. I've not seen this fold before and will try it soon. I envy your skill in drawing images you need. What I got for a saying is "When you fall down, pick your self up again and go on." Memories of my youth. We had alleys behind the houses paved in cinders from the coal burning furnaces. I was still getting cinder out of my knees well into my 30's. Those were the days. Thanks for allowing me to remember.

This is just so delightful, Maureen! Your log and bike are perfect props for this fabulously colored Edwin! When we were kids we used to say to each other "Have a nice trip? See ya around next fall". We though it was hilarious, but of course we grew up and it lost it's appeal!

Hi Maureen - all I can think of is that silly saying..."help, I've fallen and I can't get up!" See, I told you! lol
Adorable card...awesome creation!
